Bone Steel celebrated its Platinum Anniversary in October 2008, having been established as Bone Connell & Baxter in 1938. In its 70 years the company has grown to become one of the leading structural steelwork contractors in the UK and has been involved in steel construction work worldwide including multi-storey commercial developments in London, a sugar plantation in Jamaica, a desalinisation plant in Saudi Arabia and the grandstand at the Dubai Autodrome.
In 1938, with war looming large it was possibly not the most auspicious year in which to launch a business venture but Alex Bone had no such qualms as he fulfilled his ambition to enter the world of structural engineering on his own account.
Beginning with relatively small-scale projects locally, Bone Connell & Baxter developed its resources, contributing significantly to the war effort by producing structural steelwork for the 'Mulberry' harbours which played a vital logistical role in the weeks following D-Day.
Post-war, the company became involved in high profile contracts in 96 countries world-wide, such as fabricating and erecting the steel frame for Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow for Rangers Football Club, completed in July 1959.

In 1998 the newly named Bone Steel moved to a custom built steel fabrication facility where investment in plant and technology continues to improve performance and productivity, maintaining the company's position as a leading provider of structural steelwork, integrating design, engineering, manufacturing and project management.
